What do
these levels mean?
Which classes should I attend?
Gentle Yoga is open to all students. Beginners can attend with confidence. Care is taken to ensure the safety of each student. The pace is slow and gentle, and modifications are provided for those with physical challenges and limited range of motion. The basics of posture, alignment and breath are presented. This class is gentle and restorative. One does not have to perform extreme poses to realize a strong benefit from the practice. Level 1-2 is open to all students, and may have a few more challenging poses for the more experienced students. These are clearly communicated as optional. Respect is shown for all students, regardless of level of ability. Level 1-3 is open to all students, regardless of experience, but more optional challenging poses and sequences are presented for those who want to explore a deeper practice. Level 2-3 (Intermediate) is open to all who have at least six months yoga experience and a basic understanding of the poses, alignment and breath. Care is taken to ensure the safety of each student, while undertaking a stronger approach to the practice. Poses are held longer, and have a focus on building strength and increasing flexibility and balance. Intermediate Flow is open to all who have at least six months yoga experience and a basic understanding of the poses, alignment and breath. This a combination class, consisting of Vinyasa (moving from pose to pose on EACH breath) and Sequencing (a linked progression of poses held for a few breaths each). |
